Mijas Costa is the coastal side of the municipality of Mijas, one of the most complete places to live on the Costa del Sol. Between Fuengirola and Marbella, it combines more than 12 km of Mediterranean coastline with a valley of championship golf courses and the Sierra de Mijas rising behind. Above it all sits Mijas Pueblo, the whitewashed mountain village that gives the municipality its name. The result is a rare balance: relaxed beach life, a genuine Andalusian setting and Málaga airport within easy reach.

Our properties range from €200,000 to €10 million, and most of the homes we sell are priced between €300,000 and €500,000. Why buy property in Mijas Costa
Mijas Costa appeals to a wide range of buyers, from golfers and families to remote workers and retirees. Here is why:
- Award-winning beaches: five Mijas beaches hold the Blue Flag for 2026 and 2027, and a coastal boardwalk links much of the shoreline.
- A golfer’s paradise: more than a dozen courses within the municipality, including La Cala Resort, Mijas Golf, Santana, Miraflores and El Chaparral.
- Close to the airport: La Cala de Mijas is about 34 km by road from Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport, typically around 25 minutes by car.
- Choice and value: a broad mix of apartments, townhouses and villas, often at lower prices per square metre than in the most exclusive parts of Marbella.
- Year-round life: a large international community, shops, restaurants and services that stay open outside the summer season.
Mijas Costa’s areas: where to buy

Mijas Costa stretches from the edge of Fuengirola in the east to the border with Marbella in the west, and inland into the golf valley. Each area has its own character.
La Cala de Mijas
La Cala de Mijas is the heart of Mijas Costa. A former fishing village, it has kept a relaxed, small-town feel, with a lively main street, a weekly market, restaurants and beach bars. Its Blue Flag beach is overlooked by El Torreón, a historic watchtower that is now an interpretation centre for the watchtowers of the Mijas coast. The seafront boardwalk makes it easy to walk or cycle along the shore. Property here ranges from apartments within walking distance of the sand to townhouses and villas on the hillsides above, and La Cala is consistently one of the most sought-after addresses on this part of the coast.

Calahonda
Calahonda, also known as Sitio de Calahonda, is one of the largest residential areas on the Costa del Sol. It rises from the beach into the hills, so many homes enjoy open sea views. The area has its own shops, restaurants and services, and the beach is marked by the historic Torre de Calahonda watchtower. La Luna–Royal Beach, at the western end of Calahonda, is one of the five Mijas Blue Flag beaches. Calahonda borders Marbella’s eastern side, with Cabopino and its marina just along the coast. Buyers will find a wide choice of apartments, penthouses, townhouses and villas.
Riviera del Sol and Miraflores
Between Calahonda and La Cala, Riviera del Sol is a well-established residential area with a Blue Flag beach and the Miraflores golf course, designed by Falco Nardi and opened in 1990. It is a popular choice for buyers who want golf, beach and everyday services all close together. Homes include apartments and penthouses in gated communities, townhouses and detached villas, many with views over the course or the sea.
El Chaparral and El Faro
East of La Cala, El Chaparral is a green, hilly area built around El Chaparral Golf Club, a course designed by Pepe Gancedo and known for its sea views and pine woods. El Chaparral beach also holds a Blue Flag. Neighbouring El Faro (Calaburra), close to the Calaburra lighthouse, offers villas and apartments on the coast towards Fuengirola. It is a peaceful setting that is still only minutes from La Cala and Fuengirola.
Mijas Golf and La Cala Golf
Inland, the golf valley is home to Mijas Golf, with its two 18-hole courses, Los Lagos and Los Olivos, and to La Cala Resort, which has three 18-hole championship courses (America, Asia and Europa) and a short course. The surrounding communities offer frontline golf apartments, townhouses and villas, often with mountain and valley views, and generally at more accessible prices than homes right on the coast. They suit golfers and buyers who prefer space, greenery and tranquillity.
Cerrado del Águila and the Hipódromo
Above the coast, near the Costa del Sol racecourse (Hipódromo Costa del Sol), Cerrado del Águila is a residential area on the hillside with its own 9-hole golf course and wide sea views. It offers modern apartments, townhouses and villas in gated developments, with quick access to the A-7 and to La Cala de Mijas.
Mijas Pueblo
Although it is not on the coast, many buyers also consider Mijas Pueblo, the whitewashed village on the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas. Its narrow streets, flower-filled balconies and viewpoints over the coast make it one of the most picturesque villages in Andalusia. Village houses, apartments and villas on the surrounding hillsides suit buyers who want authentic Spanish life with the beaches a short drive away.
